Iglesias is running to return as an associate professor at the Complutense University

MADRID, 27 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The former vice president of the Government and former leader of Podemos, Pablo Iglesias, announced this Wednesday his desire to return to teaching at the Complutense University, where he has applied for two places as an associate professor.

This has been announced by Iglesias himself on Twitter, where he has detailed that he is opting for places in the Faculty of Politics, where he already taught before dedicating himself to politics, and in Information Sciences.

"I hope there is luck. I would love to teach at the Complu again," he reveals more than a year after leaving politics after the poor result obtained in the elections to the Community of Madrid on May 4, 2021.

Iglesias, who surprisingly announced his departure from the Government to compete against Isabel Díaz Ayuso in Madrid, later decided to abandon active politics after failing to achieve his goals.

Shortly after, he announced his incorporation into a research group at the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3), attached to the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), a task that ends a year later and from which he is preparing an academic article, as he explained.

During this course he has also collaborated in various media, such as the Gara newspaper, Cadena Ser sharing a gathering with the former socialist minister Carmen Calvo and the former PP minister José Manuel García Margallo and through his own 'podcast' in the Público newspaper.

Along with his political career, Iglesias has a long academic career, with a doctorate in Political Science, a law degree (both from the UCM) and other postgraduate studies, such as a master's degree in Humanity from the Carlos III University.

Also, among other achievements, he was awarded an 'honoris causa' doctorate by the Metropolitan University of Buenos Aires, and has other awards and distinctions, such as the 'Marcelo Quiroga Santa Cruz' Medal from the Plurinational Legislative Assembly of Bolivia

In addition, he has participated in different research groups in the field of social sciences. For example, she was responsible for the project 'Cinema to understand the fundamental concepts of the social sciences'.

On the other hand, he has published several books such as 'Nudo España' with the journalist Enric Juliana; 'A new transition. Materials of the year of change'; 'Dispute democracy. Politics for times of crisis' or 'Win or die. Political Lessons from Game of Thrones'.
