Iberdrola increased its electricity production with combined gas cycles in Spain by 31.6% until June

Reduced its own production with renewable energy by 1.5% globally in the first half

MADRID, 15 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Iberdrola increased its electricity production with combined gas cycles in Spain by 31.6% in the first half of 2022, to 2,928 GWh, which represented 10.6% of its total generation in the country, which amounted to 27,467 GWh between January and June, according to the company's energy balance sent this Friday to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).

In Spain, Iberdrola's production generated by renewable energies fell sharply, 28%, to 11,870 GWh, largely due to the 51.2% drop in hydro, to 4,573 GWh, and 3, 8% of onshore wind energy, up to 5,995 GWh, while nuclear energy fell by 0.6% (11,505 GWh).

At a global level, the company chaired by Ignacio Sánchez Galán reduced its own net production of electricity generated by renewable plants by 1.5% in the first half of the year compared to the same period of the previous year, to 40,446 gigawatts/hour (GWh ).

Despite this, its net total energy production (both its own and for third parties) increased by 0.4% in the first half of the year compared to the first six months of 2021, to 83,255 gigawatt hours (GWh). In this sense, its own net production amounted to 63,929 GWh in the period and that destined for third parties was 19,326 GWh.

Of the company's own net renewable production until June, onshore wind power accounted for 57%, with 23,290 GWh, while hydroelectric and mini-hydroelectric together accounted for 32% (12,949 GWh), solar 4.62% ( 1,871 GWh) and offshore wind contributed 5.68% (2,300 GWh).

In the chapter of own net production at a global level, gas combined cycles reduced their production by 11.4% in the first half, to 9,275 GWh, while nuclear production fell by 0.6% (11,505 GWh) and cogeneration was reduced by 17.3% (2,704 GWh).

In the United Kingdom, the company's renewables increased their production by 22.9%, to 4,151 GWh, led by the 42.9% increase in onshore wind power. Meanwhile, in the United States the increase in renewables was lower (5.6%) and stood at 11,052 GWh.

In Mexico, own net production fell by 5.4%, to 8,561 GWh, while that generated for third parties rose by 17%, to 19,326 GWh.

Iberdrola's production with renewable energies in Brazil grew by 29.2%, to 9,447 GWh, with a notable increase in onshore wind power (70.5%) and hydroelectric power (24%). Instead, gas combined cycles plummeted 99% between January and June 2022.

Of the countries in which Iberdrola is present, Mexico is where it produced the most energy in the semester, with 27,887 GWh, followed by Spain with 27,467 GWh and far behind the United States, with 10,836 GWh, Brazil with 9,461 GWh and the United Kingdom (4,151 GWh). ).

Iberdrola's total installed renewable capacity increased by 9% worldwide in the last 12 months, to 38,722 MW, which represents an increase of 3,150 MW in the last financial year. Thus, the company exceeds 59,522 MW of total power in the world, after increasing it by 6.6% in the last year.
