Hungary accuses the EU of causing the energy crisis in Europe with its "failed" sanctions

MADRID, 12 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Hungarian Foreign Minister, Peter Szijjarto, has attributed the energy crisis affecting Europe to the "failed" sanctions adopted against Russia after the military offensive ordered by its president, Vladimir Putin, on neighboring Ukraine.

For Szijjarto, who this Wednesday attends a meeting of those responsible for Energy of the Twenty-seven in Prague, the recommendations of the European Commission are "completely unrelated to reality", for which he has appealed on Facebook to return to "common sense" .

The head of Hungarian diplomacy hopes that "other 'big' ideas" will not come out of the Prague meeting and, in statements to the media upon his arrival, he described as "obvious" that Budapest will never support a price cap on gas.

In this sense, he recalled that the Russian authorities have already made it "very clear" that they will interrupt the supply if this cap is applied, for which he has urged to put the energy security of "all" Member States above any other consideration. .

"We hope that the Commission does not make any proposal nor does the Council accept any proposal that puts energy security in any member state at risk," stressed Szijjarto, who will precisely attend a forum on energy in Moscow on Thursday.
