Hino (Toyota) stars in a new 'dieselgate' that affects almost 20,000 vehicles

The company suspends deliveries of the Dyna model

MADRID, 22 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has discovered irregularities related to the certification of engine emissions from Hino, Toyota's industrial vehicle division.

As reported by the Japanese manufacturer, this new 'dieselgate' would have affected 19,000 units of two models, the Dyna and Toyoace. For this reason, Hino has suspended deliveries of the Dyna model in its two versions (Cargo and Dump), while the Toyoace is no longer marketed.

The engine models subject to the identified irregularities include the 'N04C' 4-litre diesel engine (with HC-SCR system), for which no irregularities have been confirmed so far.

Toyota has noted that at some measurement points, the number of emission gas measurements was insufficient when two or more measurements were required. In addition, the deterioration correction values were calculated from the data of a single measurement, while these figures must be calculated from the data of multiple measurements.

Toyota president Akio Toyoda has lamented that Hino has once again betrayed the expectations and trust of its shareholders with the revelation of a new round of irregularities.

"After continuing a series of misdeeds in the field of engine certification, Hino now finds itself in a situation where the trust of stakeholders in the company is in question. Based on this recognition, we will closely watch close if Hino can be reborn as a company worthy of the trust of its stakeholders," said the manager.
