Gamarra denounces the "authoritarian and autocratic drift" of Sánchez, whom he accuses of now seeking to "discredit" the TC

MADRID, 20 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamara, has denounced this Tuesday the "authoritarian and autocratic drift" in which the President of the Government Pedro Sánchez slips, whom he has accused of now seeking to "discredit" the Constitutional Court after the court's decision of guarantees to admit the amparo appeal of the Popular Party and to reject the two amendments that sought its renewal.

In an interview in Cope, which has been collected by Europa Press, Gamarra has indicated that the decision of the TC to paralyze the processing in the Senate of the legal reform that seeks its renewal "reinforces confidence in the rule of law" and has criticized that Sánchez is trying in this legislature "to seize the powers of the State and eliminate the counter powers."

Gamarra considers that "without a doubt" the Government is trying to "discredit" the TC. "It is not new, it is a dynamic that Pedro Sánchez has entered a long time ago to discredit not only the dissenting but also to discredit every institution, body and, in this case, the maximum guarantor of the Constitution if he does not agree with him and does not bows to their interests", he emphasized, to warn that this is "unusual" and "extremely dangerous" for democracy in Spain.

The 'number two' of the PP has criticized that Sánchez seek the "shortcut" with the PSOE and United Podemos bill that reforms the Criminal Code, attempted parliamentary "fraud" by not having to request the relevant reports from bodies such as the Council of State and the CGPJ and "accelerating" the procedures in Congress and that the opposition cannot participate.

In addition, he has indicated that the decision of the TC changes the plans of Sánchez, who plays "amnesia" for the Spanish, and has indicated that now the Senate must find a way for these two amendments to come out of the text that is in the Chamber Register and follow its processing. In his opinion, if the Government wants to go ahead with the election system included in the amendments, it must do so through a bill, with all the reports.

In the event that the Executive opts for a new bill, it has warned that there is no reason to enable January and interfere in the "normal operation of the separation of powers." "That urgency would be more than questionable," he warned, who believes that if PSOE and Podemos use that route they should wait for the next session.
