Gamarra delves into the division of the Government with NATO, weapons to Ukraine or the Sahara: "It is a permanent ambush"

He sees Sánchez's management of energy as a "scam against the Spanish": "Are we going to subsidize gas from France, Morocco and Andorra?"

MADRID, 8 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, has dedicated a large part of her speech in the plenary session of Congress to delve into the division of positions within the Executive in relation to the NATO Summit, the shipment of weapons to Ukraine or the change of position in the Sahara. She, in her opinion, "is not a coalition government but rather a permanent ambush" at "the expense of the credit of Spain and the Spaniards."

"Each day that passes your government looks more like the end of the getaway because there are so many internal contradictions that your thing is like trying to walk with your legs crossed. In short, impossible," he emphasized during the debate on the Council's conclusions European and the change of position in the Sahara.

Gamarra has censured that Sánchez has brought together the European Council and the Sahara in the same appearance, something that, in his opinion, evidences the "permanent mistreatment" to which he subjects the institutions. In his opinion, the President of the Government should go to Parliament more frequently to seek agreements with the opposition and carry out State policy. "But it is difficult to believe in the State who has put all the enemies of the nation on the command bridge," he asserted.

In his speech, he told Sánchez that the balance of these four is "making his worst dreams come true", after he said that in the middle of the 2019 electoral campaign that "governing with Podemos would create insomnia" and that "he would never agree with ERC and Bildu".

According to Gamarra, "that nightmare is the day to day of these four years". "It is definitely the price of the famous Moncloa mattress", he has proclaimed, to add that this legislature has made the "unthinkable and the unprecedented a bargaining chip". In fact, he has said that this Wednesday's debate is one more "chapter of that form of misgovernment" that characterizes Sánchez's career.

Thus, he stressed that Sánchez has not said before the plenary session that half of his government, alluding to Podemos, is against "both the hard core of the Council's conclusions" and its "lurch" on the Sahara issue. "In this he is also alone politically speaking and nobody accompanies him. Surely he has realized that half of the blue bench did not even applaud him when he spoke of NATO", he emphasized, to warn that this had not "happened never in democratic Spain".

"Yours is not a coalition government but rather a permanent ambush between you, Mrs. Díaz and Podemos at the expense of the credit of Spain and the Spaniards," he stressed, adding that what Sánchez presented this Wednesday is not the position of the Government but the point of view of who heads a part of the Government.

As for Ukraine, he stressed that "half of the government is opposed to military support for Ukraine" and underlined that the country's own president, Volodímir Zelenski, has criticized Sánchez for giving him material that "is only enough for a couple hours of combat" when "they have been at war for more than a hundred days.

"Is that the way to commit to Zelensky, whom we listen to excitedly in this House?", he asked himself, adding that the Ukrainians "do not deserve this disdain" nor the Spanish the "embarrassment" that Ukraine makes their " passivity" of the government.

In this context, Gamarra has asked Sánchez to "stop dragging his feet" because he has the support of the PP in this matter to "send the weapons that Ukraine is demanding." In addition, he has summoned him to fulfill the mandate of the Chamber to support the recognition of Ukraine as a candidate country for entry into the EU.

The 'number two' of the PP has highlighted that half of the Government is also "against" the sixth package of sanctions on Russia that was analyzed in the European Council when it is necessary to "suffocate Putin with all the instruments".

Regarding NATO, and three weeks before the NATO summit to be held in Madrid, Gamarra criticized the fact that the members of Podemos have again "taken the most stale banners of 'NATO no' out of the chest. "It's the world upside down . It is the opposition who wants the success of this Summit more than the Government itself ", he has highlighted.

In addition, he has stressed that the members of Podemos of the Executive "embarrassed" them with their "boycott" of the act of the 40th anniversary of Spain's entry into NATO in the presence of the current Secretary General of the Atlantic Alliance and four of his predecessors.

"Is this the unit you are referring to? The one you don't even have in your own government?", he emphasized, recalling that members of Podemos have also accused the government of "prevaricating with a budget allocated to the Summit of NATO". In his opinion, the President of the Government would have to say something about it, since not even he is "capable of swallowing such nonsense from the Government."

In energy matters, Gamarra asked what is the use of the Government selling an agreement in Brussels "as a historical success" when it is "incapable" of executing it and the "pockets of the Spanish people have been waiting for it since March 24".

In addition, he has asked Sánchez how he intends that the PP give its support to that validation when they still do not know him or Europe "has given the go-ahead". "Are we going to finance and subsidize gas from France, Morocco, Andorra and Portugal? Who is going to pay for this measure, the consumers? And what happened to his promise to lower the electricity bill by 40%? did to the Spaniards in the Chamber because today he has spoken of 15 or 20%"?", he questioned.

According to Gamarra, it is "a scam for all Spaniards" that "is certified in the bill for April, May and June, which will also be paid in full." "The Spaniards pay more taxes because you don't lower them", he has snapped at him.

After Sánchez has asked for support to carry out the anti-crisis measures, he has once again offered the economic plan that Alberto Núñez Feijóo sent him, with measures such as deflating the personal income tax rate. It is about the government "stop collecting" and "start lowering taxes."

"That is the real Spain of families, the self-employed and companies, which the Government suffocates, with confiscatory taxes and excessive inflation and its ineffectiveness," he said, asking Sánchez to clarify in plenary if the energy saving measures proposed by Europe are going to be implemented with charge to the Next Generation funds.

He has also criticized the "ineffectiveness" of the Government with the gas interconnections because since June 1, 2018, not one more meter of gas or electricity interconnection has been implemented.
