The general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, has admitted this Tuesday that the negotiations between the Government and his party for the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) are "very advanced" and has not ruled out that an agreement could be closed this same week. That said, she has insisted that Judge Victoria Rosell "does not meet" the requirements to be part of the judges' governing body.

In an interview on Antena 3, which was collected by Europa Press, Gamarra stated that "the important thing is not the names" but rather the "conditions" that must be met by those who are going to be appointed as members of the CGPJ, a body that has been in almost four years with his mandate expired.

As he explained, it is about moving towards a change in the CGPJ election system that "walks towards what Europe marks" and that "there is no type of political link" of the new members, guaranteeing the independence and professionalism of the members of the Council, something that, in his opinion, "does not comply" with Judge Victoria Rosell, current delegate for Gender Violence.

Before these negotiations of the CGPJ, Gamarra has indicated that his party "seeks the guarantees to maintain and guarantee the separation of powers and that the Judicial Power has the independence it needs."
