Feijóo warns Sánchez that he will not accept a change of cards in the CGPJ "without changing anything" in the election system

MADRID, 10 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, today warned the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, that he will not accept a simple change of cards to renew the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) "without changing anything" in the election system of the governing body of the judges.

This was stated today in an interview on Tele 5, collected by Europa Press, an hour before meeting with the chief executive to discuss the renewal of the CGPJ after the resignation of its president, Carlos Lesmes, yesterday afternoon.

In this sense, Feijóo has specified that he will not agree "if the president intends to change the cards, I have more because I am the Government and you less because you are in the opposition and we are not going to modify anything."

Thus, it has rejected that the Government can dismiss a minister today and send him tomorrow to preside over the CPGJ and a minister and appoint her Attorney General. Also that, when they have a pact in RTVE, the president makes the president of the Corporation resign and put a person of trust or an instruction as director of the CNI and for complying with that instruction and having problems with the independentists, dismiss or appoint her a PSOE militant as director of the CIS.

"This type of assault on institutions had never occurred in a democracy," Feijóo exclaimed and asked "be careful not to do the same in the CGPJ and the TC, because these issues are very serious."

Feijóo has recalled that he has "fulfilled" his obligations by sending a proposal to Moncloa in July for the renewal of the CGPJ to which he has not yet received a response.
