Feijóo says that if he arrives in Moncloa he will do an audit to see the data left by Sánchez after Rajoy's experience

MADRID, 8 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has advanced this Wednesday that if he arrives at the Palacio de la Moncloa one of the first decisions he will make will be to carry out a "prior audit" to see the data and the economic situation after the management of Peter Sanchez. In his opinion, it would be "important" to do it taking into account the "experience" of his predecessor Mariano Rajoy.

This is how Feijóo spoke at the III Expansion International Forum held in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), where he once again offered the PSOE and United We Can Government the economic plan that his party has presented and which includes tax cuts, streamlining of European funds and reduction of bureaucracy.

When asked what would be the first three economic measures that he would take as a priority as Prime Minister, the head of the opposition indicated that he would promote a "deflation of the IPPF with retroactive effect" to "return to citizens part of what they have paid of more" due to the increase in prices.

Apart from lowering taxes, he has said that he would speed up the execution of European funds because the injection of up to 70,000 million would be "decisive" to "improve the competitiveness" of the economy. In addition, he explained that "simultaneously he would make an adjustment to bureaucratic spending and current spending generated by the current government."

"And all this would logically come with a previous audit. We have to know very well what the economic situation of our country is because unfortunately we have experiences that, sometimes, public spending and public accounting have some adjustments", he emphasized.

At this point, he recalled the experience of Mariano Rajoy, since the outgoing Socialist Executive of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero spoke of "a public deficit of 6% and in the end it turned out that it exceeded 9%, without counting the 30,000 million euros of tariff debt" that the PP found when it arrived in Moncloa in 2011. "Therefore, the audit would be important to do," he added.

That said, Feijóo has said that what he can commit to is that if he is elected "it would not be to lie to the citizens." "I would tell them things as they are. When one makes a good diagnosis, however hard it may be, we already begin to solve the problem", he has highlighted.

In this sense, he has assured that in Spain they are experiencing "times of difficulty" and the Government is not taking the "necessary measures" or with the "necessary speed". In addition, he has alluded to the "obvious internal division" of the coalition Executive of PSOE and United We Can, with discrepancies in "three matters of state: foreign policy, defense policy, and economic policy."

Likewise, the leader of the PP has reproached the chief executive for accusing his party of "getting in the way" when he has dedicated himself to making proposals in a "constructive" way. In his opinion, if "insult" or "fear" is used, it means that "this criticism is probably difficult to refute."
