The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will opt for the candidates of his predecessor, Pablo Casado, for the regional congresses of Extremadura, Murcia and Barcelona that start this week and to which the party concurs with a single candidacy in the head of María Guardiaola, Fernando López Miras and Manu Reyes, respectively.

Thus, in the case of Extremadura, 'Génova' has opted for Guardiola, a councilor in the Cáceres town council, who had already been Pablo Casado's bid to preside over the PP in this region, replacing José Antonio Monago, who has been in office for 14 years. party front.

The mayor of Plasencia, Fernando Pizarro, the only person who had been publicly willing to choose to lead the party in the region, finally announced a month ago that he will not attend the process, with which María Guardiola will take over the reins of the PP Extremadura in the congress to be held on July 16 in Badajoz.

A day before, on July 15, López Miras will be re-elected president of the PP in Murcia in the regional congress, to which he is running as the only candidate, although in the pre-congress period the mayor of Archena, Patricia Fernández, threatened to dispute the leadership.

The president of Murcia has expressed these weeks his total harmony with the PP of Feijóo, although in the past he was one of the main supports of Casado and the then general secretary of the PP, Teodoro García Egea, who is a deputy for Murcia in Congress .

In the case of the PP of Barcelona, ​​in the hands of a manager, the former mayor of Castelldefels Manu Reyes will opt to preside over the party at the next provincial congress of the PP that will take place on July 23 in the Catalan capital, to which he attends as the only candidate .

Reyes was also a clear bet by the previous leadership of the party led by Casado and García Egea, whom the previous leadership saw as the necessary renovation to boost the PPC after the fall in the last electoral appointments, such as the regional ones on February 14, 2021, where it garnered the worst result in its history with only three seats.
