Feijóo confirmed with Ayuso, Moreno, López Miras and other PP 'barons' that the pact for the CGPJ had to be stopped

The leader of the PP maintained an intense day of contacts with his people that culminated with the statement that suspended the negotiation

MADRID, 28 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, confirmed this Thursday in his conversations with the Madrid-born Isabel Díaz, Ayuso, the Andalusian Juanma Moreno, the Murcian Fernando López Miras and other 'barons' of the party that the pact for the General Council had to be stopped of the Judiciary (CGPJ), as reported to Europa Press by 'popular' sources.

The leader of the PP, who traveled to Santander this Thursday to deliver a conference at the Global Youth Leadership Forum, held an intense day of contacts with his territorial leaders and other party officials from Cantabria before the PP issued a statement announcing the suspension of the negotiations of the CGPJ by confirming a "change of position" of the PSOE with the reform of the crime of sedition.

One of the first people with whom he spoke was with the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, who conveyed to Feijóo on Thursday morning her disagreement with the pact that was being forged with the PSOE for the renewal of the Council .

As sources familiar with this communication have indicated to Europa Press, the Madrid leader let him know from Galicia - where he had scheduled an institutional visit to the Coruña town of Ordes - that it seemed "outrageous" to agree on the CGPJ.

In the same way, Juanma Moreno was also in contact with Feijóo and they shared that it was "unaffordable" to agree on the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary while the reform of the crime of sedition is being negotiated, sources from the Andalusian Government have told Europa Press.

The president of the Junta de Andalucía then conveyed to Feijóo "all his support in the decision he took for the benefit of the general interest." According to Moreno's team, the PP president's decision to freeze the negotiations has his support, which is also "unanimous in the Popular Party."

In addition, Feijóo was in contact with other presidents, such as the Murcian Fernando López Miras, whom he informed of the "surprising" position of the Sánchez government regarding the reform of the crime of sedition "while negotiating in parallel with the independentistas of Catalonia to carry it out and with the Popular Party to undertake the renewal of the CGPJ and the TC", sources from the Murcian PP have told Europa Press.

In that conversation, López Miras conveyed to Feijóo "all his support" for the Popular Party's decision "not to give in to Sánchez's lies", who, according to the same sources, has shown "once again that he does not want an agreement but Carte blanche to continue using the powers of the State to pave the way for those who break the law seeking to satisfy, solely, their own partisan and particular interests".

The PP leader's contacts took place with more PP 'barons' in an intense day that also included a conversation around 6:30 p.m. with the chief executive, who "confirmed", according to the PP, that his legislative agenda includes the reform of the Penal Code for the crime of sedition and "is not going to give up" its modification.

The PP considers, and this is stated in its statement, that "it is an insurmountable inconsistency to agree on the reinforcement of the rule of law at the same time that it is agreed with other parties to unprotect it." For this reason, the 'popular' assured that the talks with the Government for the CGPJ "are suspended while waiting for the PSOE to decide whether in the institutional sphere it wants to advance with a constitutionalist party like the PP or wants to continue hand in hand with parties that seek to weaken the rule of law and break constitutional unity".

This Friday, at a conference organized by 'El Correo' in Vitoria, Feijóo asked the Prime Minister to "rectify" his intention to reform the law that regulates the crime of sedition because he designed legislation "tailored to the independence supporters" , with a reduction in the penalties provided for said crime, is not "compatible" with the agreement for the renewal of the CGPJ. "It is an insurmountable inconsistency", he has affirmed.

In addition, the head of the opposition has closed the door to being able to reach agreements with Sánchez after what happened and has recognized that the agreements will come with "another PSOE". Thus, he has pointed out that citizens "yearn" for state pacts. "Me too. And I'm sure they will come. With this PP and with another PSOE", he has highlighted.
