Feijóo announces that the PP will take the Debate of the Nation to review the useful life of the five nuclear power plants

MADRID, 8 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, announced this Friday that the Popular Group will take to the Debate on the State of the Nation a package of measures for the Government to "modify its energy policy", including reviewing the useful life of the five nuclear power plants. He has also defended completing the penetration of renewable energies by betting on biogas and hydrogen, while he has defended taking advantage of European funds to improve interconnections with the rest of Europe.

This is how he pronounced himself in Zaragoza, after visiting the Nurel fiber and polymer manufacturing company accompanied by the president of Aragón, Jorge Azcón, four days before the start of the Debate on the State of the Nation in Congress, which is not being held since 2015.

The leader of the opposition has pointed out that the objectives of a "responsible" government must be to "guarantee a quality, sustainable energy supply through all available energy sources" in order to achieve "affordable" prices for households and maintain the competitiveness of companies.

Next, Feijóo has listed the measures that he will take to next week's debate with the aim of "helping" the Government to "make decisions" in the face of its own "internal difficulties" and "divisions" that exist in its Executive. First of all, he has cited the reduction of taxes, not only VAT on electricity but also on gas and on the supply of district heating and cooling and on biogas.

It has also opted to maintain all available energy at its maximum capacity in order to "reduce energy prices". Thirdly, and after the decisions in Europe in the face of "the reality that the European industry is experiencing" and the Europeans, he has defended "reviewing the forecasts for the useful life of the five nuclear power plants installed in Spain" as other European partners are doing.

Likewise, Feijóo has pointed out that the penetration of renewable energies must be completed, betting on biogas and hydrogen that "incomprehensibly the Government has left aside". He has also defended taking advantage of European funds to improve Spain's interconnections with the rest of Europe.
