Feijóo and Casado have lunch together in Madrid one year after the deep crisis of the PP

'Génova' says that they have a "fluid relationship" and that the food is part of the normality and respect between two presidents of the PP

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and the former president of the PP Pablo Casado, have lunched together this Wednesday in a central Madrid restaurant, one year after the deep internal crisis of the Popular Party that ended with the departure of the second, according to has confirmed the national leadership of the party.

Both had this meal pending, which had been canceled on a previous occasion, but which finally took place this February 22 in a restaurant near the Senate, since Feijóo later participated in the voting on various motions and the University System Law.

"This meeting was scheduled for the end of last year and was postponed for scheduling reasons," party sources have specified, who have denied that it was "secret" because both were in a restaurant.

Party sources have stressed that Feijóo and Casado have "a fluid relationship" that they have maintained over time, and have added that in the last year "they have shared reflections on various occasions."

In addition, the same sources from Feijóo's team have indicated that Feijóo and Casado's meal "is part of a climate of normality and respect between two people who have had the honor of presiding over the Popular Party."

Just a year ago, the internal war between Casado and the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, broke out in the PP, which had been simmering for months. At dawn on February 24, 2022, the then leader of the PP would end up agreeing to leave him with the territorial 'barons'.

Casado, who now works in a defense fund, is silent and has not had any public intervention since the Seville Congress in April last year, in which Feijóo was elected as leader. "He has redone his working life, he is away from politics. He is calm," one of his trusted people has told Europa Press.

In that conclave, he went up to the lectern and announced that he was disassociating himself from the organic positions of the PP: "Dear Alberto, you can always count on me, wherever I am, for whatever you need and in whatever may be useful. Meanwhile, I will maintain prudence and Castilian discretion that I have always shown and that a Galician like you knows how to value in the face of noise". Casado and Feijóo have talked several times, according to sources from their surroundings confirm to Europa Press, but their content has not been disclosed.

LOOK TO THE FUTURE AND NOT BY "THE RETROSIVOR"

Last Monday, the spokesman for the PP campaign committee, Borja Sémper, told reporters that the PP has to look to the future and not in the "rear-view mirror", without "getting entangled" in issues that occurred then, when asked in several times if the PP considers how to rehabilitate Casado.

However, Sémper later admitted that the former president of the PP has the doors of the formation open. "The doors of this headquarters are absolutely open to him and to any other militant. Especially to him because he has been president of this party and he is a very relevant and very important person for us as well. And with the naturalness with which I tell him, This is how we will deal with it in the future," he declared.
