Feijóo accuses the PSOE of wanting to cover up the "seedy corruption" of the 'Mediator case'

On the 'Operation Catalonia': "What has happened that is known, regardless of the content and scope"

LLOBREGAT HOSPITAL (BARCELONA), 28 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has accused the PSOE on Tuesday of wanting to cover up the "seedy corruption" of the 'Mediator case' and has urged him to "explain exactly what is happening and how many people are" who participated.

In statements after visiting the Mobile World Congress (MWC), he lamented "the cases of corruption that are sprouting at this moment in the whole territory", alluding to the case that affects the former parliamentarian of the Canarian PSOE Juan Bernardo Fuentes Curbelo.

"It is unfortunate that congressmen and senators go to Madrid, not to perform their functions, but to have unfortunate fun at night with all kinds of practices, from prostitution to drugs," he criticized.

To questions from journalists, he also referred to the decision of Madrid's Investigating Court 13 to investigate 'Operation Catalonia' after admitting the complaint by former FC Barcelona president Sandro Rosell against retired commissioner José Manuel Villarejo and police officers for alleged organization crime, document falsification, accusation and false denunciation, embezzlement of public funds and illegal arrests.

"We are talking about a case from many years ago, but the truth is that sometimes one finds out about things later. Whatever happened is known, regardless of the content and scope," he replied.

And when asked if, as a result of 'Operation Catalonia', there are cases of corruption linked to the PP, he replied: "Let what has to come out come out, what has to be investigated be investigated and what has to be clarified need to be clarified."

He has also considered that the motion of censure registered by Vox is good for the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, "so that there is no talk of the legislative nonsense that he has created."

He has reiterated that he will not be present when the motion is held, because the PP does not believe in it, since "it is destined to fail."

"The only one that is good for the government, because after the motion it will be proven that it has support in Parliament," Feijóo said.

He has stressed that this motion seems to him "to make a certain parliamentary 'show', a certain political theatre", for which reason the PP will remain skeptical and abstain, he said.

Regarding the MWC, he said that the show "reconfirms that Catalonia can be one of the great capitals of the world and that it is" in the technological field.

He added that it is "a source of pride" for Spain, since it is a world event with the presence of all the major international companies.

However, he has stated that "Spain is lagging behind" in the field of connectivity, in that of digital transformation and in the transformation of the new economy.
