FC Barcelona and Manchester City join forces to fight against ALS

MADRID, 23 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

FC Barcelona and Manchester City face each other this Wednesday at the Spotify Camp Nou (9:00 p.m.) in a friendly match whose objective will be to raise funds to fight against ALS, an initiative led by Juan Carlos Unzué, promoter of an event that was born " from friendship with capital letters".

This friendly between culés and 'citizens' is much more than a friendly match. It is a tribute to solidarity, to the cause of the exporter and coach Juan Carlos Unzué, who a little over two years ago was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a neurodegenerative disease that currently has no care.

For Barça-City, which was presented on June 20 with the presence of Juan Carlos Unzué himself, the song 'Ara' has been created, a hymn that symbolizes this fight against ALS, specially created by the producer Jordi Cubino and performed by Miki Núñez, and that all those who attend the Camp Nou match will be able to listen live.

A commemorative scarf has also been designed, which will have a charitable purpose, since 100% of the profits obtained from its sale will go to the Luzon Foundation, said FC Barcelona for this Wednesday's charity match.

"We are reporting what the consequences are and what the harsh reality of my team 'mates' is," Unzué said in the match presentation. "In this way, we have the possibility of raising awareness among more people," added the technician, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2020.

The meeting was scheduled to be held earlier but the coronavirus pandemic prevented it from being played with full capacity in order to gain more strength. Now, the Camp Nou can be filled with tickets ranging from 19 to 99 euros.
