ERC already advances its rejection to expand the US destroyers at the Rota base

Esquerra Republicana (ERC), one of the main budgetary allies of the coalition government, has already advanced this Wednesday its rejection of the agreement reached with the United States to increase the number of American destroyers at the Rota base (Cádiz) from four to six.

"Anything that is a military increase, Esquerra will never be in favor of it," said its defense spokesman in Congress, Gerard Alvarez, who considers that this agreement is "an understandable decision by a militarist state."

Compromís, other of the usual partners of the Executive, has also admitted, through the mouth of his deputy, Joan Baldoví, that he does not like that the conclusion of the meeting between presidents Joe Biden and Pedro Sánchez is to increase the military presence, although he does not advance your vote.

And instead Ciudadanos, located in opposition to the coalition government, has declared itself proud that the United States decides to apply its collaboration with Spain and has advanced its support to strengthen Spain's role in the Atlantic Alliance.

Even its deputy secretary general, Edmundo Bal, already predicts what will happen with that military cooperation agreement: "The usual thing will happen, the PSOE will be left hanging because Podemos will bring out its rancid and outdated pacifism. Despite having Putin's beast threatening us, we have to win the war based on kisses and hugs", he ironized, also in statements in the corridors of Congress.
