The Spanish cyclist Enric Mas will be the leader of the Movistar Team in the next edition of the Tour de France, which will be held from July 1 to 24 and in which the telephone team will try to reach the final podium in Paris.

The 27-year-old Spaniard, who this Monday renewed for three more years with Movistar, will command a team in which he will be accompanied by Carlos Verona - recent stage winner at the Dauphiné-, Imanol Erviti, Gorka Izagirre, Albert Torres, the American Matteo Jorgenson, the Portuguese Nelson Oliveira and the Austrian Gregor Mühlberger.

Now, Mas will try to improve the performances of his last two editions of the gala round, in which he was fifth (2020) and sixth (2021). Patxi Vila and Chente García Acosta will be the team's sports directors in the 40th consecutive appearance of the telephone team in the 'Grande Boucle'.

The leader of the Movistar ranks assured on Monday after his renewal that he is going to the Tour, which begins this Friday with a time trial in Copenhagen, "with the best of hopes this year." "The objective for these next three years is to fight to get on those podiums in the Tour, Giro or Vuelta or, why not, aspire to victory in one of the Grand Tours", he indicated.

In addition, Movistar announced the women's team that Jorge Sanz will lead and that will compete in the Giro d'Italia Donne, which begins this Thursday in the Sardinian city of Cagliari and ends on July 10.

The Dutch Annemiek van Vleuten will be the reference at the start of her challenge of the three 'Grand Tours'. Alongside her will be a stage winner in 2021, the Danish Emma Norsgaard; the Pan-American road champion, the Cuban Arlenis Sierra; the French Aude Biannic, the Colombian Paula Patiño and the Serbian Jelena Eric.
