Echenique says that "the natural thing" is for Díaz to lead the unity of the left and that Podemos wants a faster agreement

He indicates that he has a relationship linked to parliamentary activity with Errejón and that feelings should not take precedence in politics

MADRID, 3 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The spokesman for Unidas Podemos in Congress, Pablo Echenique, has affirmed that the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, has to lead the process of reconfiguring the left outside the PSOE and that the purple formation only contemplates the scenario of "unity" and agreement with Sumar, the new platform that promotes.

In statements to RNE, collected by Europa Press, he stressed that it is "natural" for Díaz to lead a candidacy for the unity of progressive forces and that this process is "what is happening", although in the case of Podemos he would like to agree a coalition was "a little faster".

"She is organizing her party but, come on, it seems clear that there will come a time when we will have to sit down and agree to all go to the elections together," Echenique said to rule out that Podemos is going to promote alternative candidates to Díaz.

And it is that he has claimed that Podemos "has always opted for unity" and that he demonstrated it in 2016, when he managed to be the hegemonic force in the alternative left to the PSOE and made the decision to reach agreements with the forces that now make up United We Can , such as UI and commons.

Therefore, it has concluded that the union of the left forces is a "fortress" and they do not contemplate any other scenario that is not a broad front of parties led by Díaz.

Regarding his relationship with the leader of Más País, Íñigo Errejón, after his split from Podemos, Echenique has commented that they have a normal political relationship and close to the activity of Congress and that when "millions of people" are represented, they cannot be putting personal affinities or feelings ahead.

Therefore, he has made it clear that he contacts and speaks with Errejón when they require support for parliamentary initiatives and laws.

He has also criticized the delay that Congress is showing in order to enable the chamber so that he can occupy his seat normally, as he has already asked the president of the chamber, Meritxell Batet, to do on several occasions.

In his opinion, Congress is sending the "wrong message" to society, given that a bureaucratic aspect and protection of heritage is prioritizing something that is still a "piece of wood", over the right of political participation. of people with disabilities.

He has also opined that although it is not his political tradition, he has ironized that the use of the term "communist" by his political adversaries as a criticism of the Government is achieving "the opposite effect", that it is normalized and people do not see supporters of this ideology as "horned demons".
