Echenique says that Escrivá's immigration reform is a step but "insufficient" and calls for massive regularization

MADRID, 19 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The spokesman for United We Can in Congress, Pablo Echenique, has remarked that the plan to reform the immigration regulations of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, directed by José Luis Escrivá to incorporate migrants into the labor market is "a positive step " but "insufficient".

In this sense, he has once again defended that his formation is committed to the "massive" regularization of half a million people in an irregular situation, in line with the legislative initiative promoted by social groups.

Echenique has said that the assessment of the reform of the immigration regulations that Escrivá is preparing is positive but they receive it with "caution", since the right thing to do would be to act with a broad regularization as already undertaken by former presidents José María Aznar and José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.

"There are around 500,000 people in an irregular administrative situation in Spain who, however, make an indispensable contribution to moving the country forward but have far fewer rights than those of us who are lucky enough to have nationality or work permits," he concluded.

For his part, the head of the Ministry recently stated that he opposes "indiscriminate" regularizations.
