Echenique advances that Podemos will request in Congress an investigation commission on the "media sewers"

The initiative has the support of ERC, Bildu, Compromís and the CUP and Echenique hopes that the PSOE will consider his proposal

The spokesman for United We Can in Congress, Pablo Echenique, has advanced that his group will register an investigation commission on the "media sewers" in the chamber over the next few days as a result of the new audios related to former commissioner José Manuel Villarejo.

He also explained that the initiative has the support of ERC, Bildu, Compromís and the CUP and they are waiting for other groups to join. In the case of the PSOE, Echenique has indicated that they have informed their coalition partner of their plans, they have sent him the text they plan to present and now they hope that they will consider it in order to offer him their support.

The leader of the purple formation has stated that within the Lower House two investigation commissions have already been held which, in their conclusions, have verified the existence of "sewers" in the Ministry of the Interior during the PP stage and of a "parapolice" paid with reserved funds, which carried out illegal practices.

However, Echenique has asserted that "obviously" that "misnamed patriotic police" would not have been able to carry out their activities without the collaboration of a "media leg" that, to date, they have not been allowed to investigate.

Now and as a result of those audios, Echenique has proclaimed to sentence that there was a "media plot" and it has become "clear" that he tried to "destroy" not only the reputation of leaders of Podemos but also of other political forces, where even in conversations The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, is mentioned.

"This goes beyond Podemos, it is a direct attack on democracy," the spokesman for the confederal group has settled to emphasize that another case of these practices was the situation suffered by the former Government delegate in Madrid, the socialist José Manuel Franco, as a result of the 8M demonstration in the days before the pandemic.

Recently, Podemos asked the judge of the National High Court Manuel García Castellón to include in 'Kitchen', the piece about the alleged vigilante espionage of former PP treasurer Luis Bárcenas, the audios of the conversations between Villarejo and the former 'popular' leader María Dolores de Cospedal, considering that she could not only have known but also participated in the alleged maneuvers to "fabricate" evidence against the party and its leaders.

Specifically, it refers to an audio broadcast on July 7 by 'El País' that reflects a conversation that Villarejo and Cospedal would have had on May 5, 2017 in relation to the so-called 'PISA Report', where the commissioner offers "a topic of the host against Podemos" to the then Minister of Defense and she replies that she wants it because "it is a bomb".
