Denmark's insurance supervisor approves transfer of Codan Forsikring's portfolio to Chopin Forsikring

The Danish supervisory authority has approved the transfer of the portfolio of Codan Forsikring A/S to Chopin Forsikring A/S, as published on Monday by the Official State Gazette (BOE).

The General Directorate of Insurance and Pension Funds (DGSFP) has made the operation public in a resolution of July 14, 2022, in accordance with the provisions of article 1 of Law 20/2015, of July 14, ordering, supervision and solvency of insurance and reinsurance entities and with article 102.3 of Royal Decree 1060/2015, of November 20, on the organization, supervision and solvency of insurance and reinsurance entities.

The Spanish supervisor has informed the public in general, and policyholders in particular, that the Danish supervisory authority (Finanstilsynet) has communicated the approval, dated April 1, 2022, of the assignment of the entity's portfolio domiciled in Denmark, Codan Forsikring A/S, which operates in Spain under the free provision of services regime, to the entity domiciled in Denmark, Chopin Forsikring A/S, which operates in Spain under the free provision of services regime.

In the resolution, the general director of Insurance and Pension Funds, Sergio Álvarez Camiña, has warned that, in the case of insurance contracts for which commitments or risks located in Spain are assumed, policyholders may exercise the right of Resolution of the same within a month from this publication, having the right to reimbursement of the part of the premium not consumed.
