MADRID, 7 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Second Vice President and Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, has announced that she will meet next Monday with large distributors and consumer and user associations to try to find an agreement that caps the prices of basic foods, such as bread, milk or eggs, although he has advanced that this Thursday he will hold a first meeting with Carrefour to address the issue.

This was announced by the vice president in statements to the media after meeting with the organizations of self-employed workers ATA, UATAE and UPTA to address the National Strategy for the Promotion of Self-Employment (Endita).

"I have never spoken of a price intervention, but of a different measure for an agreement between distributors and consumer associations, in order to do something completely legal, which has already been done in France and has worked," remarked the head of Worked.

Just this Wednesday, Carrefour announced that it is making a basic basket of 30 products available to its customers for 30 euros in an economic context that is causing Spanish families to see their purchasing power limited and drastically modify their consumption habits.

According to Díaz, the meeting that will be held tomorrow with Carrefour responds to the request "as a matter of urgency" by the company itself to address this issue. "We are facing an exceptional situation and the French model is reasonable," Díaz stressed, after recalling that it was precisely Carrefour that carried out this task in France.

In general, from the meetings that will be held in the coming days, the minister believes that, as always, both distributors and consumer associations will be "up to" the circumstances. "I have never talked about unilateral caps, but about agreements," stressed the second vice president of the Government.

In addition to protecting the citizens who need it most by setting a price limit for this shopping basket, the vice president has also focused on the need to pay special attention to producers, "who are also being victims of this situation. However, representatives of this group are not expected to attend Monday's meeting, as confirmed by the head of Labor.

AGAIN ASK THE EMPLOYER TO SIT AT THE TABLE

Asked about the request made today by the general secretary of the UGT, Pepe Álvarez, for the CEOE to set a "day and time" to resume the negotiation of wages within the framework of the interconfederal collective bargaining agreement (AENC), the vice president He has shown in the same line and has asked the employers to return to the table "for the good of the country".

"The negotiation of salaries corresponds to the social agents and I ask them, I join Mr. Álvarez, to sit down," Díaz insisted again.
