Díaz affirms that the Government "improves criminal legislation" in Spain with the reform of sedition and other crimes

BILBAO, 14 Nov. (EUROPE PRESS) -

The Second Vice President and Minister of Labor and Social Economy of the Spanish Government, Yolanda Díaz, has defended that the Government, with the suppression of the crime of sedition, "is doing what it should do", and improves the criminal legislation of Spain, which " should have been reformed a long time ago", by reforming the Criminal Code to modify criminal types such as sedition and other crimes.

During a press conference prior to the inauguration, in Bilbao, of the 'Summit on healthy workplaces 2022' organized by the EU-OSHA, Díaz stated that Spain "needs to modify and modernize many of its punitive types" because "there are responding to criminal acts with readings of the 20th century, in many cases; that is, with past readings".

In this sense, he has cited sedition, "which was unparalleled in the harmonization of comparative European legislation." "What the Government of Spain does is that it reinstates the crime of sedition in accordance with European legislation," he specified.

The second vice-president of the Government added that it is "very important" that "other matters, such as criminal offenses 311 to 318, which are those linked to workers' rights, are also reformulated in our country".

For this reason, he has defended that the Government of Spain "is doing what it has to do" in the country, "which is to improve criminal legislation, which should have been reformed long ago".
