Danish Social Democrats fall in the polls against the opposition bloc

MADRID, 8 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Social Democratic Party of Denmark, which governs the country with the parliamentary support of other formations, faces the parliamentary elections in September without guarantees, according to a survey that places the opposition bloc led by the center-right ahead.

The Prime Minister's party, Mette Frederiksen, appears with a voting intention of 22.9 percent in a survey published on Monday by the Ritzau portal. Added to parliamentary support, it would reach a total of 47.5 percent.

The opposition, on the other hand, would reach 50 percent, thanks in part to a new anti-immigration party, the Danish Democrats, which is aiming for 11.2 percent of the vote. At the forefront is Inger Stojberg, convicted of illegally separating refugee families when she was a minister in 2016.

Denmark has until June 2023 as the deadline to hold elections, but a formation related to the Government has threatened to withdraw support if Frederiksen does not take the step and call the elections before October, when the next parliamentary course is scheduled to start.
