Cs is considering adopting the two-headed model of the PNV and Arrimadas would only be the candidate in the next general elections

Ciudadanos has opened the door to change its structure within the framework of the refoundation initiated after its poor electoral results and its leadership is going to propose to the militancy that the figure of president disappear and the party divide into two directions, in the style of the PNV: one organic and one political.

Sources from the 'orange' party have pointed out that this proposal, which would have to be supported by the militancy, is inspired by the European liberal parties and seeks to "protect" Arrimadas, whom they define as their "greatest political asset".

The organic management would manage the day-to-day internally, while the policy, led by its president, Inés Arrimadas, would be dedicated exclusively to speech and contact with the street.

A bicephaly of power that, according to the same sources, would resemble that of the PNV, whose president is Andoni Ortuzar, while the Lehendakari and candidate for the Basque elections is Iñigo Urkullu.

Citizens will hold primaries and an assembly in January to renew their leadership, but the vote will be limited to the organic leadership, according to the sources. "Inés is not going to those primaries because she is going to remain as a reference for the political part and with the idea that she is the candidate for the general elections" of 2023, they have indicated.

If its structure changes, Ciudadanos would no longer have a presidency and another name would be given to the positions assumed by the organic and political directorates, which would be integrated into the executive. "The new address would be collegiate", they have detailed in this regard.

However, to choose both directions "there will always be primaries", they have explained, stressing that Arrimadas's intention is to be the candidate for the general elections.

According to the sources, in the listening process there is "unanimity" in separating Arrimadas from the organic part so that it does not wear out. In any case, the appointment of the political leadership would be done through primaries, although later than those scheduled for the month of January.
