Cs celebrates an extended executive this Monday to seek solutions to the Andalusian debacle and rethink its future

MADRID, 26 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Ciudadanos has convened an expanded executive for this Monday with the aim of addressing the debacle in the Andalusian elections, which resulted in the disappearance of the 'orange' formation of the regional Parliament. This has accelerated the process of rethinking the party, which in the words of its leaders is "burned out" and is no longer "useful."

Specifically, the Executive Committee and the General Council meet, according to the deputy secretary general of Ciudadanos, Edmundo Bal, in full hangover from results that he has described as "bad", without palliatives.

The Executive Committee, which includes the president and general secretary, is the party's governing and administrative body between assemblies. It is empowered to direct the political activity of the formation and direct its economic and administrative management, according to the Ciudadanos website.

For its part, the General Council, made up of 125 members elected by the general assembly through open lists, is the highest political body of the party between general assemblies. Among its functions, it stands out that of establishing the main lines of political action of Ciudadanos.

Before the media, Bal specified that during the extended executive they sought to "reflect" because, as he acknowledged, "they are not doing something right." "We will have the opportunity to talk about all these issues and see how we are going to put the future on track," she added.

Party sources specify that the Executive Committee meets once a month and that "it is nothing extraordinary." As for the General Council, the same sources indicate that it was convened "previously" and the meeting is not the result of the Andalusian elections. The reason is the approval of the accounts, but it is possible that during the time of questions and answers the members raise other questions.

This "analysis" and "deep reflection" was already flying over the direction of Ciudadanos, which launched a series of procedures to analyze and "reactivate" its brand months ago. The debacle in the Andalusians has only accelerated the process.

Arrimadas announced the "refoundation" plan on Monday and has pointed to the need to renew the program, teams, organization model and brand. In reference to the leadership of the party, the 'orange' leader clarified that the process will also involve submitting her leadership to the endorsement of the bases of the formation.

The idea is that the process culminates before the regional and municipal elections, scheduled for May 2023, so that the candidates concur with a "renewed" instrument.
