Cs calls the protest "fanaticism" during the minute of silence in tribute to the victims of 17-A

MADRID, 17 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The deputy secretary general of Ciudadanos, Edmundo Bal, has branded this Wednesday as "fanaticism" the protest during the minute of silence in tribute to the victims of the 17-A attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils (Tarragona) carried out in the act to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the attacks.

Before the media, the also deputy spokesman for the 'orange' formation in the Congress of Deputies has disgraced "the attitude of the separatists", describing the protest as a "boycott" in a minute of silence that "was simply trying to honor to the victims of this cruel attack".

Bal has also taken the opportunity to denounce that a third of the victims have not yet received the aid to which they are entitled and that "practically" 40 percent of them "have not even been located."

Along these lines, and underlining the need to be "always by the side" of the victims, he recalled that the final judgment of the National High Court puts them at 350 and there is only one year to find them and that they can claim their rights. Thus, he has indicated that it is "absolutely necessary" to implement legislative reforms that allow this period to be extended.

The attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils (Tarragona) on August 17 and 18, 2017 caused 16 deaths and more than a hundred wounded of 24 nationalities. The sentence of the case recognizes 350 victims of the events due to physical injuries or psychological damage, but to date the Unit for Attention and Assessment of People Affected by Terrorism (Uavat) has still not been able to contact some 250 of them to inform them that the sentence has recognized them.
