Arrimadas writes to Sánchez and reproaches him for the use of the decree, the unilateralism in the measures for "sectarianism" or for "mere arrogance"

MADRID, 23 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Citizens have asked the Government this Tuesday to "reconsider" a battery of economic and energy measures proposed by the 'orange' formation in mid-March and have warned that if it does not "correct" the measures contained in the decree that will be voted on Thursday they will not support him.

Specifically, the president of Ciudadanos, Inés Arrimadas, has sent the president, Pedro Sánchez, a letter in which she insists that the measures in question be reconsidered, raised before the approval of the decree law of economic response to the crisis derived from the war in Ukraine, and in the framework of the vote this Thursday on the validation of the decree containing energy saving measures, widely criticized by the party.

In the letter, Arrimadas exposes how the party sees the situation and reproaches it for using the decree tool, which "demands the different parliamentary groups to adhere instead of trying to agree, even minimally, on the measures that should determine the economic future of millions of Spaniards and the future of energy policy" in Spain.

Although the 'orange' president acknowledges that the Russian invasion of Ukraine is having "devastating" consequences for the European Union (EU) as a whole, such as rising electricity prices, skyrocketing, generalized and sustained inflation over time, and a forced rethinking of energy production, management and consumption, it does blame the Government for the fact that unemployment has increased "despite the recovery of tourism", of "higher inflation despite less dependence on Russian gas" than neighboring countries and being " at the head of the most indebted economies in the EU".

In his opinion, the Government has chained "inaction, delay in making decisions and a manifest lack of ambition" in the fight against inflation and the energy saving plan, which "must not only go through saving", which the training considers "necessary", but for "greater production, for which Spain offers sufficient resources".

In the same way, he censures that "unilateralism cannot be the Government's only recipe", accusing him of the fact that the proposed measures "have been systematically ignored" by the coalition government made up of the PSOE and Podemos, "often for putting their sectarianism before nuclear energy or tax cuts and, on other occasions, for mere arrogance".

Arrimadas focuses on the measures that contemplate "important" tax relief for families and companies in the face of rising prices, the extension of the useful life of nuclear power plants in Spain or favoring investment in renewable energies and plans for the storage and use of energy".

In this context, and emphasizing the "refusal to dialogue and agree on measures" by the Executive, Arrimadas censures that PSOE and Podemos "continue to refuse to lower taxes" as Germany has recently done and that Spain "continues to be the European exception with respect to reconsider the commitment to nuclear energy", recently declared a sustainable activity by the European Commission.

"The Government is providing a response to this crisis completely removed not only from reality, but from the measures that the vast majority of European countries are already taking in their commitment to price containment, economic relief for families and production of energy", he insisted.

Thus, Arrimadas once again proposes a battery of "essential" measures so that the Government can count on its support in the plan that it will take to the Congress of Deputies.

There are a total of 13 measures, including a comprehensive review of the decree approved by the Council of Ministers so that it includes more flexibility for companies when it comes to establishing energy saving measures, the differentiation of measures between the different climatic zones of Spain, an extension of the reduced rate of 10 percent of VAT applicable to gas until March 31, 2023 and specific aid for the installation of heat pumps and the replacement of gas boilers with electric ones.

In addition, it calls for a study on the extension of the useful life of nuclear power plants, deflating the personal income tax rate, separating the regulated rate (PVPC) from wholesale market prices and improving competition in the fuel distribution market at filling stations. services.

Likewise, it calls for the necessary agreements to be reached so that families in vulnerable situations can benefit from the surplus energy generated by solar panels or complete the product of the MidCat gas pipeline, among others.

"In short, what is unacceptable is that the Government is only in a hurry to demand energy savings from Spaniards without offering alternatives for Spain to increase energy production, nor is it acceptable that the Government requires merchants, self-employed and workers new restrictions on their jobs, but that it is unable to lower their taxes, deflate their personal income tax or provide them with direct aid to adapt to the new impositions of PSOE and Podemos", he added.

Arrimadas has thus warned that if the Government does not correct the measures, not only will it not have its support, but "the Spaniards will continue to be condemned to a devastating economic horizon and an energy system with a deep dependence on gas, when throughout Europe they walk in the opposite direction." On the contrary, if he decides to "rectify", he already knows his approach.
