Critics of Ciudadanos call the refoundation plan a "farce" and insist on an extraordinary congress

Bal admits that the date of the assembly that will decide on possible changes in the party is still unknown

MADRID, 3 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The critical group SomosCs, which brings together local and regional officials who called for the immediate resignation of Inés Arrimadas, have branded the refoundation process undertaken in the party as a "farce" and have criticized the decalogue for the future presented on Saturday by Begoña Villacís and several members of the renewal team is just a "cut and paste" of the 2019 electoral program.

The group of experts in charge of proposing a refoundation project presented its first conclusions this Saturday, but its prescriptions were limited to reinforcing the liberal ideology and agenda, without setting a date for the extraordinary assembly, nor advancing anything about possible changes of denomination or party emblems.

The critical sector of the orange party, which includes deputy mayors, councilors and regional deputies, questions this process underlining that, "after more than 5,000 hours of work, the only thing that is concluded is a copy and paste of the ideas and protests that Ciudadanos has always defended.

"From SomosCs we see with sadness that, as we suspected, the refoundation is a farce, a deception to all the affiliates -they maintain-. The only objective of Inés Arrimadas and her team is to buy time to continue perpetuating themselves in power and not give a voice to all the affiliates".

For all these reasons, they insist on "stop wasting time" and demand the immediate convening of the Extraordinary General Assembly so that all affiliates, without exception, decide the future of the party". "What affects everyone, we must decide together ", they underline.

For his part, the deputy general secretary of the party, Edmundo Bal, acknowledged on Monday that there is still no date for the assembly that will decide on possible changes in the party, such as leadership.

At a press conference, the also deputy spokesperson for Citizens in Congress limited himself to emphasizing that the refoundation process is "ongoing" and "giant steps are being taken", but the date of the congress remains "undetermined" and there is "concretion", although it is expected for the end of December or the beginning of January.
