Consumer credit rebounded 9% in 2021, to 29.8 billion euros, according to DBK Informa

MADRID, 29 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The volume of new investment from financing entities reached 29,830 million euros in 2021, which was 8.6% more than in the previous year, although it was still well below pre-pandemic levels, according to the Observatory Informa's DBK sector (subsidiary of Cesce).

The study explains that the dynamism of the demand for financing for the acquisition of consumer goods, which includes consumer credit, personal loans and revolving credit, was the main explanatory factor for this evolution, in a context of rapid recovery in consumer spending. families and very favorable financing conditions.

This segment concentrated 61.2% of the total new investment, standing at 18,259 million euros, 11.9% more than in 2020. The commitment of the main banking groups to the personal loan business had a "dynamizing" effect in this area of activity.

For its part, the volume of credit allocated to the acquisition of vehicles stood at 10,872 million euros in 2021, which represented an increase of 2.6% compared to 2020, reflecting the sluggishness of new car sales, affected by the drop in production in the second half of the year due to the component crisis.

Brand finance companies generated 46.4% of the new investment in financing for the automotive industry, with the remaining 53.6% corresponding to other types of entities.

The new investment of entities in the capital goods segment experienced an increase of 22% in 2021, the highest in the sector, amounting to 699 million euros.

The first five entities jointly gathered 58% of the total new investment in 2021, rising to 77% the joint share of the ten largest.

In a context of high inflation, rising interest rates, a foreseeable increase in delinquencies and tightening of the criteria for granting loans, the data handled by DBK Informa shows that the 2022 financial year will close with additional growth in the volume of new business generated by financing entities, although lower than that registered in the previous year.
