Congress decides whether to urgently call the three vice presidents and five ministers to appear

There will be debates on the 'only yes is yes' law, sexist murders and the bilateral summit with Morocco

MADRID, 22 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Permanent Deputation of Congress, the body that remains active in non-ordinary sessions, meets this Monday to discuss the requests of the PP with the aim that the three vice presidents of the Government and up to five ministers be summoned to appear urgently before before the end of January, a non-working day for parliamentary purposes.

Specifically, in addition to the economic vice president, Nadia Calviño; the head of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, and the person in charge of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, the first opposition party will defend that it is necessary for the Ministers of Justice, Pilar Llop, to urgently give explanations on different issues; Equality, Irene Montero; Industry, Reyes Maroto; Health, Carolina Darias, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares.

The PP requests Calviño's appearance to detail "what degree of knowledge and, where appropriate, participation" she had in the selection process of her husband, Ignacio Manrique de Lara, for the senior management position as commercial strategy coordinator and marketing in the Board of Directors of National Heritage.

The 'popular' consider that the first vice-president owes explanations to Parliament for this matter and that she must give them before the new session begins, although her husband has already resigned from holding that position.

In addition, they ask that the Minister of Labor go to the Chamber to clarify why the Government has eliminated the 100% bonus of business Social Security contributions for hiring an unemployed person to replace someone who is enjoying maternity leave or paternity.

Those of Alberto Núñez Feijóo denounce that with this change "the labor cost due to pregnancy" is increased, which harms "especially women and their employability" and penalizes, from their point of view, "maternity and birth" .

This is a measure contained in the decree law that rearranges the incentives for hiring, a rule that will already be the subject of debate the next day in the Plenary Session of Congress and that will presumably be defended by Vice President Díaz herself.

The appearance before the commission of Ecological Transition of Ribera is requested to report on the proposal to reform the wholesale electricity market of the European Union.

The PP will also take to the Permanent Delegation the controversy over the almost 200 reductions in sentences for sexual offenders that have occurred in application of the Law on Sexual Freedom, known as the 'only yes is yes' law.

To render accounts of this situation, he demands the appearance of the Minister of Justice and Equality, each in a commission. And, in addition, they request that Irene Montero also give explanations about the rise in murders of women at the hands of their partners or ex-partners in recent months and about the fact that, according to the data provided by the PP, "half of them" were registered as victims in the VIOGEN system.

The PP has also focused on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, who is being demanded to anticipate in Congress what issues will be discussed at the High Level Meeting with Morocco scheduled for the next February 1 and 2." and the "position of the Government regarding the main pending disputes".

On the other hand, the first party of the opposition will defend before the Permanent Deputation the relevance that the Minister of Health and head of the list of the PSOE to the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Carolina Darias, detail before February the measures "promoted and planned to minimize the impact in Spain of the increase in COVID-19 infections registered in China".

The requests of the PP are completed with the one that affects the Minister of Industry and PSOE candidate for Mayor of Madrid, Reyes Maroto. They want me to explain the appointment of the former director general of Industry of the Principality Luis Ángel Colunga Fernández as special commissioner for the PERTE for Industry Decarbonization and to explain the reasons for the dismissal of senior officials from this body.
