Congress convenes one last presentation on the 'gag law' with the idea of voting it now in the Interior Commission

MADRID, 22 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Congress has convened for next Tuesday a third meeting of the paper that is in charge of processing the reform of the Citizen Security Law, renamed by its critics as a 'gag law', with the intention that it be the last and already raise its report to the Interior Committee and that it be approved in plenary in February.

The second meeting of the presentation took place last week and, since then, the government parties and their usual allies have maintained contacts to continue approaching positions on the few articles that are still open.

However, as parliamentary sources have explained to Europa Press, despite the fact that they have served to outline some issues, after these last telematic meetings, disagreements continue on the prohibition of the use of rubber balls, known as 'hot returns' and the articles on disobedience and lack of respect for the agents.

The government parties intend to get some of these entrenched issues out of the 'gag law', such as rubber balls or hot returns, but their partners from Bildu and ERC continue to press to introduce changes now, knowing that there is little room for carry out other laws in the working months that remain of this election year.

The intention is to continue trying to reach positions before Tuesday, but whether or not there are new agreements, the forecast is that this meeting of the presentation will be the last and that the corresponding report will be approved to discuss it, already open, in the Interior Commission .

Specifically, the presentation has been called for 9.30 am on Tuesday. That same day at twelve o'clock an extraordinary plenary session will begin for the validation of the last two decree laws approved by the Government and to host, in the afternoon, the appearance of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.

The next plenary session is scheduled for the second week of February, already in the regular session. In order for the reform of the 'gag law' to be approved in that plenary session, the Interior Commission should meet the first week of February.
