Ciudadanos proposes new hydroelectric plants in the face of Sánchez's "ideological obstinacy" against the nuclear one

Citizens have requested in Congress the study of new facilities for hydroelectric generation by turbines and pumping in the face of the "ideological obstinacy" that, in their opinion, the Government has against nuclear energy.

If the rejection to extend the useful life of the plants persists - the last nuclear one is scheduled to close in 2035 -, Cs points out that "then the hydroelectric plant remains the only option to increase the firmness of the renewable energy 'mix'."

In a battery of questions recorded in Congress, and collected by Europa Press, Cs asks the Executive to promote and attract large hydroelectric pumping projects to improve storage capacity and encourage the hybridization of renewable parks, combining several technologies in a single installation.

In this sense, the 'orange' formation gives the example of the latest park inaugurated in Portugal, a reversible hydroelectric power station --with turbine and pumped generation capacity--, with an installed capacity of 1,158 MW in which, in addition, to install 300 MW of wind power.

For this reason, from Cs they demand from the Government a water use plan that analyzes the possibilities of starting new facilities and maximizing the potential of water resources in terms of energy.

However, despite the fact that dozens of announcements of the construction of new dams and reservoirs are included in the hydrological plans of the Spanish basins, in this formation they regret that Vice President Teresa Ribera has assured that she was not in favor of increasing this type of works " Unless it was necessary."
