Citizens warn the PP that agreeing to the CGPJ and then reforming it is a "disaster": Bolaños "tries to deceive"

MADRID, 5 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The deputy secretary general of Ciudadanos, Edmundo Bal, warned the PP this Saturday that the strategy of agreeing on the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) and then reforming the election system for members of judicial extraction is a "disaster" that "it has not solved the problem" because the socialist person in charge of the negotiation, Félix Bolaños, seeks to "deceive everyone".

The last round of negotiations, in which it seemed that the agreement between PP and PSOE was imminent, was blown up at the end of last week, due to the reform of the crime of sedition. The formations discussed after the recent visit to Spain of the European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, who insisted that overcoming the blockade to renew the governing body of the judges is the main thing, in order to later change the election system.

"The strategy that we have seen so far, first agree and then reform, is a disaster, it has not solved the problem," Bal lamented in statements to RNE, collected by Europa Press, where he remarked that the Minister of the Presidency told him personally that "over his corpse" he was going to change the election system of the CGPJ.

For this reason, he has once again emphasized the Ciudadanos proposal, an express reform of the Organic Law of the Judiciary so that judges are elected by their peers, which would allow the "problem" to be solved in "three months." "For January we have a CGPJ", he has reaffirmed.

Bal has lamented that the State institutions are "weakened" by the "festering" of the PP and PSOE to "distribute the chairs among their friends and have Justice controlled", underlining the "discredit" in the face of citizens and other institutions.
