Cimic (ACS) wins a new mining contract of 480 million euros in Australia

MADRID, 1 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Cimic, through its mining subsidiary Thiess, has been awarded a contract valued at 700 million Australian dollars (480 million euros) to perform asset management and maintenance services at the 'Iron Bridge' mining project, located in Western Australia.

The works included in the contract to be carried out by the Australian subsidiary of ACS will start this September for the next three years, although the company will have the option of extending the contract, as reported in a statement.

"This is an important project for Thiess as we continue our strategy of diversifying into raw materials and offering sustainable mining solutions to our customers," said Thiess President and CEO Michael Wright.

On Wednesday afternoon, another of the ACS subsidiaries, in this case its concessionaire Iridium, announced the takeover of the SH-288 toll highway in Houston (United States), for nearly 900 million euros.

Specifically, it has come to hold 66.27% of the capital invested in the project, which was awarded in 2015 for the next 52 years, including the financing, design, construction and operation of four new toll lanes in the median of the corridor and its accesses, the rehabilitation and improvement of the roads and links of the existing highway, and access to the hospital complex known as Texas Medical Center.
