Catalonia is the Autonomous Community that has received the most money from the Treasury during July, while Madrid is in fourth place

MADRID, 28 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Catalonia has been located in the month of July as the autonomous community that has received the most money from the Ministry of Finance, between payments on account, the final settlement of 2020 and the compensation collected in the General State Budgets of 2022. While , the Community of Madrid is the fourth region on this list, surpassed by Andalusia and the Valencian Community, in addition to Catalonia.

This follows from the data provided this Thursday by the department headed by María Jesús Montero of the 10,606 million euros that the Treasury has paid to the autonomous communities during the month of July. This amount includes deliveries on account for this month, the final settlement for 2020 and the compensation included in this year's Budgets.

Specifically, Catalonia receives 1,744.32 million euros, divided between the compensation for the negative settlement (536.36 million) and payments on account (1,205.95 million euros). After this community, Andalusia is located, with 1,726.62 million euros, and the Valencian Community, with 1,375.57 million.

Meanwhile, the Community of Madrid is in fourth place, with 1,308.31 million euros, divided between the negative settlement (496.09 million) and payments on account (812.21 million).

After these four communities, the Balearic Islands (699.65 million) are located; Canary Islands (696.22 million); Galicia (666.23 million); Castilla y León (571.86 million); Castilla-La Mancha (440.15 million); Aragon (318.75 million); Murcia (281.88 million); Extremadura (272.94 million); Asturias (241.15 million); Cantabria (163.97 million); La Rioja (88.46 million); Ceuta (5.01 million) and Melilla (4.9 million).

In the first place, the Government has paid the communities the positive balances of the settlement of the regional financing system corresponding to the 2020 financial year, for a total amount of 1,333 million euros.

The global balance of the liquidation of each community and the autonomous cities is given by the difference between the definitive return in 2020 of the resources subject to liquidation and the amounts paid in 2020 for deliveries on account of said resources, plus the amounts provided by the Autonomous Convergence Funds.

Consequently, the regional administrations received more financing from the resources subject to settlement than was due due to the evolution of income and therefore the difference between the final return on these resources and the amounts paid in 2020 as payments on account is negative (to return to the Central Administration) for all of them.

However, the distribution of the resources of the Regional Convergence Funds, which is carried out jointly with the Settlement, has allowed the global settlement balance to be positive for the Valencian Community, the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Ceuta and Melilla, which have received a total of 1,333 million euros.

For the rest of the Autonomous Regions, whose global settlement balance is to be returned to the Central Administration, the measure embodied in a provision of the PGE has been applied.

Pursuant to this provision, extraordinary resources were transferred in July to the Autonomous Regions with global negative liquidation balances for the same amount deducted in the month for the return of said balances, resulting in them receiving in July the same amount as received in any other month of the year.
