Castillo approves a program to expel "all foreigners" who commit crimes in Peru

MADRID, 13 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Peruvian President Pedro Castillo on Friday ordered the country's Interior Ministry to launch a program to expel all foreigners who commit crimes from Peru.

"I have ordered that the 'Return to your country' program be initiated through the Ministry of the Interior of Peru so that all foreigners who commit crimes in Peru are expelled," the Peruvian president said in a message on his Twitter account. Twitter.

With this measure, Castillo intends to give "a frontal fight against crime", alleging that "Peruvian families cannot be allowed to continue to be hurt, who deserve a quiet life, in peace and freedom."

The announcement takes place several days after the Peruvian Prime Minister, Aníbal Torres, announced the Executive's intention to present a bill to increase the causes for expelling foreign citizens from Peruvian territory.

Specifically, these new conditions would include causes such as non-compliance with the measures imposed to contain COVID-19, or that non-residents in Peru are found to have firearms without authorization, drugs or narcotics.
