Carlos Sainz: "You have to be positive and think that days like this will come to others"

MADRID, 12 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) has lamented the hydraulic failure that has ruined his race at the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, in which he had to retire, and has warned that "days like this will come to the other" drivers, for what is "positive" for the rest of the championship.

"We had a hydraulic problem, the race ended there, on lap 9 or 10. We were making a very calm start to the race, trying to save the tire because we knew it was very hot. They had asked me from the team to try to extend that first stop, I was saving a lot of tyre, but just when I was going to start pulling it has gone," he told DAZN.

A disaster coupled with the also abandonment of his teammate, the Monegasque Charles Leclerc. "It's a job for the whole team, also because of what happened to Charles, but that's the way it is. This is Formula 1 and there will always be difficult days and better days," he said.

On the other hand, the man from Madrid explained what the director of the Ferrari team, Mattia Binotto, told him when he got out of the car. "I asked him what the problem had been and he told me that the fault was hydraulic but that they didn't know why. They are two problems that must be investigated and action taken. It is a day to encourage the whole team, to encourage all the 'ferraristas'; it's a tough day for everyone, but we have to try to be positive, think that there is still a lot of championship left and days like this will come to others", he concluded.
