Carlos Sainz: "I come to Monaco with an open mind and high confidence"

MADRID, 27 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) assured that they face the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix with "high confidence", a race where he always goes "with an open mind" because the conditions of the track can cause changes in the traditional order.

"We expect more of the same, even better. We come to Monaco well prepared as a team, with high confidence, and after some good races now is the time to do well all weekend," said Sainz this Friday at the wheel of official press of the appointment.

The man from Madrid recalled that he comes to this race "always with an open mind". "Normally, cars that are not in the fight can be and the other way around as well. You have to be calm, focused throughout the weekend and do well when it counts," he added.

In addition, despite the fact that he does not usually favor the show, he believes that this Grand Prix should be kept on the calendar. "He deserves to be. It's a great place to come, although I'm not going to lie and I would like to have somewhere to overtake and so the show would be better on Sunday. Without that everyone knows that the weekend is focused on the Saturday and at stops," he stressed.

On the other hand, he confessed that it was "very fun" to play the traditional football game that they usually play in the run-up to this Grand Prix and in which he scored two goals. "In the 60th minute I was very tired and we were losing 3-1. I switched positions with Pierre (Gasly), I scored two goals and I felt a bit like Real Madrid, but in the last two minutes I was dragging myself like a mummy", he said between laughs.
