Calviño sees "surprising" that the TS reviews the pardons: "They are elements in which the leading role is of the Executive"

MADRID, 25 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The first vice-president of the Government and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, has described this Wednesday as "surprising" the decision of the Supreme Court (TS) by which it has admitted to proceedings the appeals filed against the pardons of the 'process' because they are elements in which the "prominence" falls on the Government.

Calviño has expressed himself in these terms in an interview on Telecinco, collected by Europa Press, when asked about this turn of the Supreme Court by which they are going to estimate the appeals for reversal filed against the cars for which the same section did not admit the contentious appeals -Administrative proceedings filed against the Royal Decrees by which nine of those convicted in the 'procés' case were pardoned.

"It is a bit surprising to me because pardons are one of the elements in which the Executive must have a leading role," explained the minister, who has expressed "total respect" for the legal actions. "We will see what the analysis is," she added.

On the other hand, the minister has responded to the statements made by the leader of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, in which he has warned that Spain will pay for the Government's turn over Western Sahara to support the Moroccan autonomy plan. "I do not share that assessment," the minister pointed out, while she slipped that Spain's interest is to have "excellent relations" with neighboring countries, both with Algeria and with Morocco.

"That is the interest, to have a good relationship with the rest of the northern Mediterranean countries. This is our natural space together with the European Union and Latin America", he concluded on this matter.

Lastly, and in relation to the King Emeritus's visit to Spain, the head of Economic Affairs referred to the words of the minister spokesperson, Isabel Rodríguez, who regretted that Don Juan Carlos I had missed an opportunity to give an explanation to the set of Spaniards.

"It is a pity that he has missed this opportunity, but this must be separated from his action by Felipe VI, who is doing very important work with great added value for our country," he concluded.
