Calviño maintains that the self-employed are "essential for the progress of the economy"

The First Vice President and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transition, Nadia Calviño, assured this Monday that the self-employed are "essential for the progress of the economy", which is why the Government has "firmly committed to supporting" this group.

Calviño has intervened in a video message recorded at the opening of the Summer Course of the Association of Self-Employed Workers (ATA), which he had planned to attend, although in the end he was unable to attend due to the celebration of the Council of Ministers on Monday.

In the midst of the negotiations between the self-employed and the Executive to agree on a new contribution system for self-employed workers, the first vice president has defended government actions such as the approval of the Strategy to Promote Self-Employment (Endita), the programs to promote self-employment in rural areas, support for these projects or aid for training in digital skills.

"In addition, we are mobilizing a significant volume of public resources, thanks to the Recovery Plan funds for areas such as digitization, economic transition or active employment policies", said Calviño, who recalled that these measures are focused on modernize the Spanish productive fabric.

The First Vice President and Minister of Economic Affairs has also invited the self-employed to "learn more about the opportunities offered by the Recovery Plan".
