Calviño links Algeria's decision on Spain to the growing link between the neighboring country and Russia

Urges to "go back" and welcomes the reaction of the EU

BARCELONA, 13 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The First Vice President of the Government and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, today linked Algeria's decision to suspend the Treaty of Friendship with Spain to the growing link between the neighboring country and Russia.

This is how he referred in an interview on Catalunya Radio this Monday, collected by Europa Press, to the suspension of relations announced last week by Algeria. The minister has urged this country to "reverse" and has welcomed the reaction of the European Union.

However, she has linked the Algerian decision to the fact that the country "was increasingly aligned with Russia", for which she has said she is not surprised by its new position, and has insisted that the gas supply is guaranteed.

Calviño has reaffirmed that "the price of energy in international markets depends a lot on the war" in Ukraine and has warned of the repercussion that this is having on food prices.

He has attributed the increase in fuel prices to its trend in international markets, but has assured that the National Commission of Markets and Securities (CNMV) "is closely monitoring" the presence of bad practices at gas stations.

Likewise, he has insisted on the need to "be responsible" in the fiscal field and has affirmed that Spain has prepared for the rise in interest rates, for which he has considered that he can face it.

On the other hand, Calviño has defended the current government's investment policy in Catalonia and has lamented the role of other administrations, without citing them: "We would do more if we had the support of other institutions."

This is how the first vice-president referred to the proposal to expand the Barcelona-El Prat Airport, a project that was under discussion last summer.

Calviño has assured that the current Executive has a "visible and evident" change of attitude with respect to the previous ones and has celebrated having unblocked infrastructures such as the burying of the railway tracks as they pass through Montcada i Reixac (Barcelona), access to the Airport of Barcelona and the end of tolls on the motorway.

Asked about relations with ERC, she advocated maintaining the majority of the investiture and urged "not to mix things up", referring to the Republicans' refusal to ratify the anti-crisis plan for espionage with Pegasus.
