Calviño disassociates the Fiiapp foundation from the plot of 'Tito Berni' and the general who directed the GARSI-Sahel project

MADRID, 1 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The first vice president of the Government, Nadia Calviño, has separated this Wednesday the Fiiapp foundation, of which she is president, from the alleged corruption plot 'Mediator' led by the former PSOE deputy from the Canary Islands, Juan Bernardo Fuentes Curbelo, known as 'Tito Berni', and the General of the Civil Guard who was in charge of the GARSI-Sahel project, Francisco Espinosa Navas.

"I am the president of the Fiiapp Foundation and an internal investigation has been commissioned, of course, but from the information I have there is absolutely no type of relationship and there is not even an overlap from the point of view in view of the time that has made me coincide with any of these people", he pointed out in statements to laSexta collected by Europa Press.

In the summary of the 'Mediator' case, it is stated that the judge in charge of the investigation accepted, at the request of the Internal Affairs Service of the Civil Guard, that the public contracts managed by the International and Ibero-American Foundation of Public Administrations and Policies be required (Fiiapp) related to the European project GARSI-Sahel for the training of gendarmes.

"It seems totally absurd to establish a link," Calviño added when asked about the possible relationship between those investigated in 'Mediator' and this Spanish public foundation that manages projects within the framework of international cooperation projects. In addition, she has said that she is willing to appear before Congress to "share whatever information" they may have.

"I will appear when appropriate and I believe that all the explanations are being given in this regard," Calviño emphasized, adding that the Government led by Pedro Sánchez shows "zero tolerance for corruption, as demonstrated by decisive action every time there is any type of suspicion or any risk in this regard".
