Calviño considers that the Spanish energy policy "is inspiring the European response"

Praises the results of the gas cap and the construction of the MidCat

BARCELONA, 14 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Vice President of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, considers that the Spanish energy policy "is inspiring the European response" since the country has a highly respected voice in the international arena, in her eyes.

In an interview with 'El Periódico' collected this Sunday by Europa Press, he assured that the gas cap is "allowing Spain to have wholesale prices well below France, Germany or Italy", and protects the country in the coming months in this context of rising prices.

He has stated that with the war in Ukraine and inflation, the current context is one of enormous uncertainty, in his words, and that with the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, one must "prepare for the worst" and anticipate what may happen.

Asked about a possible reduction in taxes, as proposed by the PP, she has assured that the measures in the current economic context have to be "effective now, not reductions in taxes for a year from now", and has reaffirmed that the will of the Government is that the Minimum Interprofessional Salary (SMI) reaches 60% of the average salary next year.

Regarding the construction of the Midcat gas pipeline, he said that "strengthening the interconnection capacity is positive so that Spain can become a kind of logistics center to supply gas and electricity" by different routes to the rest of the countries and thus contribute to strategic autonomy of Europe.

He added that the Mugardos regasification plant in Galicia could also "play an important role" and explained that the Government wants to promote all interconnections with both France and Italy in order to supply the rest of Europe.

And he has criticized the attitudes of the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, which he describes as unsupportive: "He has aligned himself with the most extreme position of the PP, with the destructive and denial attitude. I trust that they will come out of the 'no' corner and that they will realize that it is time to help, lend a hand and show solidarity".

He believes that a structural change is taking place in the labor market, with an increase in permanent contracts, which should provide "stability, robustness and resistance" and he has stated that, if there have been fewer hirings in July, it is partly because the in the tourism sector advanced to spring.

"Spain is having a boom in employment and investment, which is going to allow us to face this delicate moment in the international arena in the best possible way. And it is going to allow us to continue maintaining a strong rate of growth with a view to the next few years," he said.
