Calviño asks to renew the TC and warns that PP and Vox will appeal all laws that advance rights

Difference between the plenary session of Congress and the debates on September 6 and 7 in Parliament

The First Vice President and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, has warned that the renewal of the Constitutional Court (TC) cannot wait "not one more day" because she has predicted that the PP and Vox will appeal all laws that imply a progress in rights

"There comes a time when we cannot continue one more day with a dysfunction like the one we are having," he warned in an interview in Rac1 this Friday collected by Europa Press, in which he lamented the harsh tone of the plenary session of Congress this Thursday and has demanded --textually-- to lower the tone of the conversation.

Asked about the Executive's reaction if the TC avoided changing the majorities necessary for its own renewal, it has relied on "common sense and responsibility" of the magistrates and has urged --textually-- to de-escalate and direct the institutions to return to a situation of inter-institutional loyalty.

Calviño has urged the PP to abandon "its attitude of obstruction and crisis generation" and has asked it to pitch in in the face of the challenges and uncertainty that, according to her, Spain is facing.

He has differentiated the parliamentary processing of the TC reform from the plenary sessions of Parliament on September 6 and 7, considering that, at that time, the judicial action did not imply a prior stoppage but a subsequent control: "I do not think it is a comparable situation not at all," he said.

He has insisted that the Government has "tried everything" to reach an agreement with the PP to renew the TC and has avoided advancing the Government's action if this same court stops its renewal in plenary session scheduled for next Monday.
