Boris Johnson overcomes the internal censure motion and will continue to lead the British Government

MADRID, 6 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The British prime minister has finally overcome the motion of internal censure raised by the deputies of his party, the Conservative Party, according to a spokesman for the formation. A total of 211 deputies have voted in favor of Johnson and 148 against.

The deputies of the Conservative Party have voted against the proposal for a motion of internal censure raised after the publication of letters of censure by 15 percent of the 'tory' bloc.

Johnson has thus exceeded 180 votes to remain in power, although history suggests that even if he achieves them by a narrow margin, his future is uncertain, since in this type of situation, a prime minister is ultimately dismissed.

Johnson himself said when his predecessor, Theresa May, submitted to this motion of no confidence and achieved 63 percent support that it was "a very bad result, much worse than it seems." For this reason, as Johnson has obtained less than 226 votes, it has been a severe setback because it represents a worse result than that of May, who finally left office six months after the internal motion of censure.
