Bolivia will complain to Spain about the "interference" of a Vox deputy traveling to the country to support an opponent

Víctor González criticizes the arrest of Luis Fernando Camacho and denounces the systematic violation of human rights in the country

MADRID, 3 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Government of Bolivia is preparing to transfer its complaint to the Spanish Executive for what it considers an "interference" in its sovereignty by Vox deputy Víctor González Coello from Portugal, who has traveled to the Andean country to denounce the arrest of an opposition leader arrested last week.

This was stated this Monday by the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Integration, Benjamín Blanco, after the Spanish deputy visited with the Chilean Luis Fernando Sánchez the Santa Cruz Police headquarters and made some statements there questioning the police action as a result of the arrest of Luis Fernando Camacho, governor of this region and who was arrested in connection with the events of 2019 that led to the departure of Evo Morales from the Presidency.

"Providing these statements to the media is a clear act of interference that is unacceptable for our country in internal affairs," said Blanco, pointing out that the United Nations Charter stipulates that "no country is authorized to intervene in matters that are essentially of internal jurisdiction of the states".

For this reason, according to local press reports, he warned that "from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the corresponding channels, we will make the corresponding claims to both the Chilean and Spanish governments for the conduct of these deputies in national territory."

Blanco was particularly critical of the Vox deputy, stressing that it is not the first time he has traveled to Bolivia and carried out "acts of meddling" since in the past he was together with then-minister Arturo Murillo during the government of Jeanine Añez . "It was part of everything that was that unconstitutional period in our country," he denounced.

González has reacted on his Twitter to the words of the Bolivian deputy minister, accusing former president Evo Morales - of the same party as the current president, Luis Arce - of interference in the protests that are taking place in southern Peru.

"It would be nice if he flatly condemned the interference of Evo Morales in Peru," he said, "and incidentally, if he deems it appropriate, that they finish explaining to us the million-dollar financing of the government of Evo Morales to the environment of Podemos."

The Vox deputy has shared his statements on this same social network, in which he explains that both he and the Chilean deputy and others who will arrive in the coming days are "deeply concerned about the systematic violations of Human Rights" that are taking place in Bolivia.

"The violent deprivation of liberty at gunpoint of the governor-elect of Santa Cruz who was arrested, kidnapped, whatever you want to call it (...) breaks all the rules of the game, the legal system that you have given yourself as a nation sovereign they are," denounced González.

Likewise, he criticized the police action against the protests that Camacho's arrest has provoked. "Systematic violence, beating and summarily detaining as is happening in Santa Cruz is a violation of Human Rights here and anywhere else in the world," he stressed.

As he specified, the objective of his trip is "to gather the information to initiate the appropriate procedures in the different international organizations, hoping to give a voice to those who do not have it today."

In this sense, he indicated that Vox has already presented a non-legal proposal in the Congress of Deputies to demand that the Government request the release of Camacho and it is also planned to do the same in the European Parliament and the Organization of American States.
