Bolivia accuses the OAS of participating in the "coup d'état" that occurred in the country in November 2019

The Bolivian Foreign Minister, Rogelio Mayta, has accused this Friday the Organization of American States (OAS) of participating in events "such as the coup that occurred in Bolivia" in November 2019, and has asked that the Charter be respected of the organization.

"In our painful experience, the OAS participated in events such as the coup that occurred in Bolivia in November 2019, which consolidated a de facto government based on the violent repression of social protest," Mayta said during his speech at the IX Summit of the Americas, which is being held in the US city of Los Angeles, reported 'Correo del Sur'.

Mayta has recalled that "the fundamental postulate" of the OAS Charter expresses the right of each nation to choose its political, economic and social system without external interference.

Likewise, the head of Bolivian diplomacy has highlighted a statement by the Latin American Council for Justice and Democracy (CLAJUD) in which the organization urges the international community to support an investigation into the "coup d'état" that took place in the country South American in November 2019.

"We highlight the CLAJUD statement that 'urges the international community to support the process of memory, truth and justice' established in Bolivia to clarify the coup d'état and the serious human rights violations that occurred in 2019", Mayta expressed in his twitter account.

On the other hand, the Bolivian Foreign Minister lamented that the Summit of the Americas "has ceased to be a meeting point for all the countries of the Americas", and has questioned the absence of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua. "We all lose the opportunity to understand each other in the midst of our differences, to discuss and understand each other," he added.

In addition, he has taken the opportunity to reproach the United States for its decision to exclude these three countries. "The fact that the venue for this Summit is the United States does not give them the power to carry out exclusions, undermining the spirit of the United Nations charter and other fundamental documents for international relations," she added.
