Bolaños urges the "most reluctant" members of the CGPJ to appoint the magistrates of the Constitutional

MADRID, 3 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, Félix Bolaños, this Thursday urged the members of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) to comply with the law and therefore appoint the two magistrates of the Constitutional Court that correspond to them "as soon as possible".

Speaking to the media from the esplanade of the Royal Palace, before visiting the National Heritage Workshop Schools, he pointed out that there have already been some meetings of these members and he reminded them, especially those who have been "more reluctant", that can make these appointments since last July.

Bolaños was thus referring to the reform of the judiciary promoted by the Government that returned to the CGPJ the power to appoint the magistrates of the TC that corresponds to it despite being in office.

With this reform that entered into force in July, the Government amended itself since it had previously approved another reform that limited the power of this body when its mandate has expired, as is the case.

Along the same lines, the minister has reminded the members that "the deadline was over on September 13" for them to make these two appointments and has urged them to do so as soon as possible. "We are already late," he pointed out.

"I want to ask the members of the CGPJ, especially those who have been most reluctant, the same as any judge asks citizens, to comply with the law, to do so as soon as possible and that we begin to resolve this mess that has been caused by the lack of personality and leadership of (the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez) Feijóo", in reference to the breakdown of the negotiations to renew the governing body of the judges.
