Bolaños assures that the Government's commitment to raising the SMI is "indisputable"

MADRID, 2 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of the Presidency and Relations with the Courts, Félix Bolaños, assured this Friday that the commitment of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, with the increase in the Minimum Interprofessional Salary (SMI) is "indisputable" and has pointed out that in this objective they will continue to work with social agents "to improve the lives of workers".

This has been pointed out by Bolaños in the Council of State on the occasion of the meeting of the Advisory Commission for the Analysis of the Minimum Interprofessional Salary (SMI), which this Friday brings together the second vice president and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, with the aim of fixing it at 60% of the average salary by 2023, according to the Executive's commitment for the last year of the legislature.

"The commitment of the President of the Government to raise the SMI is indisputable," Bolaños stressed about a possible friction between the government partners of the PSOE and United We Can on this matter, recalling that the minimum wage has gone from 700 euros to 1,000 current.

"Imagine what life would be like for workers with a salary of 700 euros," he slipped, recalling that the increase has been possible thanks to social dialogue and ensuring that the Executive will continue to work "with social agents to improve the lives of workers" .

And he has taken the opportunity to criticize the "opposition of some", in reference to the opposition parties, which "were against it and said it was going to destroy jobs." "Now we have better working conditions, better wages and a lot of jobs have also been created," she claimed.

In this sense, he has made an analysis of the latest data on unemployment and affiliations to Social Security and has maintained that it is a "good" month of August, despite the fact that one should not be "satisfied" when unemployment increases. "It always increases in August and this year it has seen a very slight increase," she said.

With this, the Minister of the Presidency has assured that the Government will continue working so that "jobs continue to be generated" and argued that "the trend is good" and the Spanish economy has "strength" to create jobs.
